1. the condor
behind steel bars in the city
red eyed eating dreams
as people pass i pray to her softly
show her my golden keys
say now you’re flying in the andes
gliding with black & white wings
you’re beautiful i say and run
pointing my heart like the sun
we become metallic forest
in city streets ancient clarity
amidst industry
wanting no possessions
just quilt blue clouds
coming thru prison bars
2. the prairie hawk
i praise her tell her she heals me
with her wild beauty black & tan wings
eternal face kind watching
you’ll be eating in the fields again i say
bunch grass wind
golden valleys will worship you
mother daughter lover
for now you help people in the city
know their hearts
remind us of all we have been
primitive bloom divine offering
silk grass my veins
willow vines
my kin
dance of the light
form my tongue
let me eat soil
