Things I’m excited for this summer:
Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami
I mean, it’s new Murakami, so even if it’s terrible I’ll still be down for at least one look. Don’t even know a single thing about the plot or style or structure. I’ve been sold on Murakami for a long time and I’ll likely always be sold.
The Fish and the Not Fish by Peter Markus
Same as above. I’m sold on Markus, have been for a few years. There’s only one thing I know about this book and I find it very exciting. Writing a book without polysyllabics? Besides the formal coolness of that, Markus writes hypnotic fairytales that read like sacred texts. It’s going to be brilliant.
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Snowpiercer by Bong Joon-Ho
One of my favorite directors and everything about this sounds and looks so great. Only heard great things as well, and very excited since he won creative control over the US release and we’re not getting the voiceover or losing half an hour of the film.
Zero Theorem by Terry Gilliam
It’s Terry Gilliam.
The Signal
Indie science fiction done right. Just watch this trailer and tell me it’s not the most exciting film coming.
