Hi everyone, and welcome back to this month’s Stars to Stories. I’m glad to have you with me.
The seasons have changed, and we have begun the move into the darker, night centered time of year. A point at which we tend to get curious about where we’ll be three months ahead during the zenith of winter and the end of the calendar year. Our sight changes through these times as we start to get more curious about our internal worlds, rather than mere distractions from outside of ourselves. That which we think we can see clearly in the summer months starts to decompose and can become cloudy and obscured.
If you’ve been at all reflective over the summer, this lack of sunlight will increase the slide inside. Otherwise, you might be in for a scare come Halloween if you haven’t taken a single peek at what was going on within.
Autumn transitions us into a period of nature’s sleep. For many people, this can bring about nostalgia, melancholy, and fear. Some years, winter is harsh and depressing; in others, it can be relaxing and calm. After the harvest, when growth appears to dwindle can be a good time to curl up and hibernate. Which begs to be asked—would the nourishing rest of sleep be so bad?
Sleep can be sovereignty. Sleep can be a mode of honoring the authority of the body. Sleep can be a way of carving out an intimate part of you that can’t be colonized by the powers of the outside world. It can be a time to prioritize the unfolding processes of learning, restoration, and receptivity. A place to let go. A way of allowing the logic of dreams reorient the self.
In your dreams, you can do anything. You can fly, visit with the dead, and heal the most unimaginable nightmares possible. The only limitations are those that you hold inside of your mind.
So often care of the self is framed as being able to purposely choose the ways you want to be stimulated. As outward activities prioritizing healthy or pleasurable options. Ways of consuming which establish and reinforce a recognizable and tangible self. A strong self. A seen self.
But which parts of the self are we all caring for? The parts of ourselves intent on being, or the parts of ourselves that run ragged while speeding up our already constant movement here on planet earth? There’s a lot to be found inside if we could all just pause for a moment and get comfortable with the quiet. Feel it, hear it, and heal it. Become friends with it instead of horns-locked enemies.
So take a nap when you can. Write down dreams when you remember them. Ask your ancestors for guidance before you drift off for the night. This month is going to take us into deeper and more emotional realms than before. Into weeks that will be less heady and more real and raw.
Seep into those plenteous mysteries. Rewards will be found by those courageous enough to face the caverns of the self, the selves that reflect the macrocosms of our times. Look each nightmare straight into the eyes with the knowledge that it wouldn’t exist without it being an image that you hold in your head.
Much love from me to you during this autumn time. May you feel guided by what’s beyond.
xo Laura

Aries
At the start of the month your sign’s ruling planet, Mars, will enter into Libra where it will stay until November. Expect an increased emphasis on relationships, others, and social activities at this time. On October 13th, the full moon will occur in your sign at 20 degrees Aries. Some tensions might erupt involving past events or long-standing secrets. How things are communicated and why will be crucial. If there’s something you’ve been hiding, don’t expect everyone to keep it unnoticed.
Taurus
On October 8th your sign’s ruling planet, Venus, will enter Scorpio and be in opposition to your sun, ascendant, or any planets you have in Taurus. This might give an extra sting and insecurity to your normally comfy attitudes towards others. Additionally, Mercury will go retrograde in Scorpio on the 31st directly across from your home sign of Taurus as well. Whatever communications pop up this month may very well take weeks to play out and to revisit, so tend to your words and keep the future in mind.
Gemini
Starting on October 3rd, your sign’s ruling planet, Mercury, will enter Scorpio, where it will retrograde in November. Communications will likely become more emotional and profound at this time. Whatever situations come up now will have until the beginning of December to play out, so remember to take the long view when you can. Support may come in the form of an older authority figure, although there may be some friction involving another party’s motives as well.
Cancer
On October 13th the full moon in Aries will create some agitation for your sign. Dynamics between relationships, individual wants and needs, and family loyalties will require extra attention and focus. However, around the new moon on the 27th unexpected developments may enter in involving a partner or spouse. There may be some luck from a friend that creates a previously unseen development that will continue to play out in November.
Leo
Events might be taut this month, with more action and deliberation needed between your partners, work, and home life. This will be further emphasized on the 27th with the full moon in Scorpio drawing focus on your family and the places where you feel rooted. Some new information that was previously unannounced may barge in around this time involving your career, but ripples down to family matters as well. Take the big picture into account as you’re making decisions. The changes made may not stay as isolated as formerly thought.
Virgo
The first week of October starts with all of the planets that were previously in Virgo having moved on, which might be a welcomed relief for you after the frenzies of August and September. This month, your home sign’s ruling planet, Mercury, will spend its time in Scorpio, bringing some emotions and sensitivities to your otherwise tangible plans. Putting feelings into words could help, even if it doesn’t seem practical in terms of your longer-term goals. You’ll have more time to integrate both emotions and actions once Mercury goes retrograde on the 31st.
Libra
Your home sign’s ruling planet, Venus, leaves Libra for the much fiercer and muddier sign of Scorpio in October. Now is the time to reorient your finances towards longer-term plans involving your family and living situations. Luck comes next month as you continue to review communications and try to make the numbers add up for where you want to be in the future. If you’re feeling weaker or more sensitive during this time, know that some of that should lift by November when Venus heads into Sagittarius.
Scorpio
Your sign becomes much busier in October with both Venus and Mercury roaming through it. Next month, Mercury will be retrograde in Scorpio, which will give a heightened sense of communications and messages to, for, and from you until December. On the 27th, there will be a new moon at 4 degrees of your home sign, and with it may bring some abrupt or impulsive decisions. If heated words come out from a person previously thought to be on your side, take the time to understand the situation thoroughly.
Sagittarius
Your home sign’s ruling planet, Jupiter, receives a forceful bout of moon magic this month, during the full moon in Aries on October 13th. Even if friends and lovers aren’t in agreement at this time, you seem to be receiving lots of attention from both parties. Luck and enjoyment hopefully will be trickling your way as well. Next month Venus joins Jupiter in your home sign, so to prepare for the fast movement you could use this time now to strategize ways to utilize the beneficial heat. Resting up for November wouldn’t be a bad use of your time if things briefly are put on pause until then.
Capricorn
Hopefully, this month can offer more support through relationships and communications with friends if last month was a whirlwind of overwork and aggravations for you. Your home sign’s ruling planet, Saturn, has now stationed direct and in a position to start moving past some long-held struggles. Since April you’ve been undergoing the long process of letting go of the parts of your identity or personality that you can no longer find the use for or that you’ve outgrown. Some conclusions seem to finally be emerging by October’s end so that the rebuilding can begin.
Aquarius
This month will mark a bit of a shift for you, with October being more of an undertaking than September previously was, although it still appears that luck will be coming towards you from groups you associate with or well-connected friends. Even if you have the motivation to move ahead, it might require some convincing arguments to make sure everyone’s on board if you’re going to endeavors together. Use the time to get clear on where you want boundaries between you and others to begin or stop.
Pisces
Some moments of sweetness will come to you this month as Venus, Mercury, and the Sun make supportive trines to your home sign of Pisces. Even if you’re putting in long hours of labor, beneficial connections and communications seem to be coming your way through your efforts. Expect higher thinking to shine this month, and if you have a change of heart or shifts in previously held beliefs, lean into it. The more time moves on, the more you’ll come to understand what it is you’re reaching for, not only emotionally and mentally, but spiritually too.
