Stars to Stories – February Horoscopes 2019

written by Laura Paul January 31, 2019

Welcome, friends!

I’m Laura Paul, and I’m happy to be serving the Entropy community as its resident astrologer. Each month I’ll be crafting horoscopes for you by sign, as well as giving a short insight into a relevant astrological topic for the time ahead.

For me, tracking the planets, as well as our own planet’s rotations around the sun are good ways to get outside of what can often be punishing modes of industrialized time. As a writer, I’ve enjoyed the experience of watching projects emerge after full moons or go dormant in the winter months. Syncing ourselves up with these cyclical progressions can give us hope that the good can return, that decay is simply a phase of life as we continue to thrive on into the future well beyond the immediate turmoil that arises.

One of the fascinating things I’ve found in my research of astrology is how much of these planetary movements already serve as the basis for much of our current conceptions of time.

The seven-day week that is the foundation for what we use today originated from early Mediterranean cultures and was officially adopted by the Roman Empire in 321 CE. The number designation derived from the seven planetary bodies visible from the earth: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn (Uranus, Neptune, and whatever we want to call Pluto can’t be seen without a telescope, and were only discovered after the late 1700s). And thus, each celestial object was designated its own sunrise to sunset period. Monday—granted to the moon, Tuesday—Mars, Wednesday—Mercury, Thursday—Jupiter, Friday—Venus, Saturday—Saturn, and Sunday—to the Sun.

I’ve had fun playing with the concept that each day of the week has its own unique influence that corresponds with a natural object in the sky rather than experiencing my time as hollow 24-hour boxes to fill.

This ancient framework of planetary influence and dedication offers a refreshing alternative to the construct of the traditional workweek, even if that’s what we’re still shaped by. Use the moon’s day (Monday) to nourish emotional realms, or the day of Mars (Tuesday) to honor initiative and drive. Use a Mercury afternoon (Wednesday) to discuss new ideas and plans with neighbors, Jupiter’s Day (Thursday) to publish that article you’ve been sitting on, or Venus’s day (Friday) to enjoy a delicious meal with a date. Looking to the natural world and beyond can give us wonderfully symbolic and liberated ways to organize our lives.

If we’re going to overhaul this dystopian nightmare that our society has created, we’re going to need both the endurance to dig back through history and creative imagination to develop new systems and structures. For me, embracing a worldview that acknowledges the agency of all things, whether involving the earth and its inhabitants or the cosmos that surround us feels like a good place to start.

With that said, I’m personally sending you my love and support for the month of February, and looking forward to checking back in with you at the beginning of March with your next round of planetary updates. Thank you for joining me here at Stars to Stories! And may you always feel guided by what’s beyond.

xo Laura

Scroll down for horoscopes by sign and read for your ascendant or rising sign if possible.

Aries

Hi, daring Aries! You’ve had your fiery ruler, Mars, in your home sign of Aries since January soon to leave for the much more mellow sign of Taurus on February 14th. A day before though, Mars will meet up with Uranus, which creates exponential energy, shock, and excitement. Time to expect the unexpected as new directions, innovations, and initiations may seemingly come out of nowhere. In the second half of the month, there could be an increased preoccupation on finances. Use that period to care for your possessions and take stock of resources. Enjoy indulging yourself, without overdoing it. It might help to get outside and get grounded.

Taurus

Hello, sweet and lovely Taurus! Your countdown awaits you. This is your last month before Uranus enters your home sign, there to stay until 2026. Yes, seven full years! What does that mean for you? Expect unprecedented growth, sometimes experienced by outside circumstances bursting forth as you never would’ve guessed. Prepare for this new phase by getting solid on what it is that you’ve outgrown and the ways in which you’d like to see yourself change. Don’t panic though—we’ve all got that rascally Uranus cruising through some area in our charts. With a little forethought, you can help guide and shape those upgrades that you never thought were possible. Think long term and let yourself accept any brainstorms that appear to be from out of left field.

Gemini

Greetings, expressive Gemini! Your ruler, Mercury, enters the sign of Pisces on February 10th there to stay until mid-April. Mercury sometimes has trouble in the expansive dreamland of Pisces, so use your words, writing, and movements about town to focus on what’s aspirational, spiritual, or even a bit mysterious this month. You’ll have a period in March where you’ll be able to review plans or communications when your ruler goes retrograde, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes the process of slowing down and double-checking helps reveal what we might not have incorporated into our initial ideas. The tilling and watering that it takes to foster growth are just as important as the sowing.

Cancer

Salutations, sensitive Cancer! Now that the January eclipses are over, hopefully you’ll be able to feel a bit more secure and put together, at least until July when you’ve got a solar eclipse in your sign. The moon’s north node moved into Cancer last year, so there’s going to be increased attention on you until May 2020. What do you want to protect, Cancer? Nurture? Feel? How’s your body been treating you these days? Don’t let anyone tell you that these aren’t important issues and emotions to investigate and work your way through. The body doesn’t lie, nor do our reactions. You have a right to take the space you need for these aspects of life as you see fit.

Leo

How did January 20th treat you, spectacular Leo? I hope not too bad, even if it may have come with some previously unanticipated information or flickers in your standard operating procedures. Last month we finished the last of the eclipses in your home sign, and you may be feeling more like retreating in ways that may not be as second nature for you in February. As a solar sign, the sun’s time in Aquarius until the 19th may put increased focus on relations and partnerships. Throughout all of this, make sure to keep up on health routines and protect your overall vitality and well-being. We want you feeling vital and bright through the dimness of the winter months.

Virgo

Hi, exacting Virgo! You may feel dreamier than your precise norm after the 10th when your ruler, Mercury, enters expansive Pisces, opposite your home sign. Then, the spotlight will shine on you come February 19th when there’s a Virgo full moon in free-flowing aspect to both Uranus and Mars at the same time Mercury merges with loose and foggy Neptune. Use that connection for creative or spiritual endeavors and be careful not to over-imbibe. Bring your art into form because the consequences won’t wait to be ignored. Work to make your deep dreams and words into a reality, but ensure that attention is given to the structure your initiatives take.

Libra

Salutations, justice-loving Libra! Your ruler, Venus, moves into Capricorn at the start of the month. There, we can only hope it will bring some levity and joy to Saturn and Pluto, and what may be your home, ancestral lineage, or family life. Also in the beginning of February, we open the month with a new moon in Aquarius highlighting your creative work, writing, and communications. Maybe it’s time you send in that pitch or manuscript, or finally hear back with news you’ve been waiting for. The results may surprise you, but with lucky Jupiter in your communication sector this year, it’s time to focus on the value you bring, instead of being invested in making everyone else feel comfortable.

Scorpio

Nice to greet you, Scorpio the mysterious! Your ruler, Mars, will be entering the sign opposite of yours, Taurus, on February 14th. However, right before then influences from surprising Uranus may move things in a previously unanticipated direction. If you start to feel a bit sluggish in the second half of the month or pulled in two different directions at once, it’s to be expected. Mars won’t leave Taurus until the end of March, so you’ve got some time to work with the polarity at play. Is there something going on between you and a colleague? A partner? If you can be patient and make peace with the more relaxed pace, it will probably be best for all parties involved.

Sagittarius

Hola, encouraging Sagittarius! Even if you’ve been facing the sober reality of your financial situation or nebulous ideas about what you’d like your ideal living space to be like, you’ve got a whole year with lucky Jupiter, your ruler, strong in your chart. Play to your strengths and stay optimistic, but make sure to break up your ideas into smaller, actionable steps and continue to move forward on them. The beginning of February may bring out-of-nowhere attention and drive to your creative work or hobbies, and there could be increased communications about your career as the month continues. Don’t squander the breaks that you can catch, even as you enjoy the ride.

Capricorn

Take care of yourself, strong Capricorn! The energies in your sign have been deep and intense. There will be eclipses in Capricorn through the end of the year as well as the presence of Saturn, Pluto, and the south node of the moon, which is sure to bring about disruptions and developments. Luckily, sweet Venus will come tour through your sign starting on February 4th, so hopefully that will add some harmony to the more serious aspects to life. The next year will undoubtedly bring some transformation to your life, which will have lasting consequences. Focus on getting clear on what you want to last and withstand through time. Not all transformation needs to be hard or scary. You have the opportunity to compost what you don’t like and turn out gold. We’re all rooting for you—and patiently waiting to see what treasures you might find in the process.

Aquarius

It’s your time to shine, distinctive Aquarius! Quite literally, that is. The sun makes its annual trip through your sign starting in January until February 19th. While the sun isn’t always super comfortable opposite its native sign of Leo, ease into the spotlight and make use of these beneficial rays while you can. Even if you’re used to an outsider’s sense of observation instead of increased attention, let the hope of the sun brighten up your edges. You may be thinking more about partnership at this time, or maybe someone’s got their eye on you. The potential for powerful alliances working behind the scenes looks likely this month.

Pisces

Oh hello, Pisces, you dreamer you. On February 18th Mercury will mix with Neptune, which may create blurry lines when it comes to communication. Focus on divine inspiration through writing and partnerships or just relax into the brain fog that the transit will bring. Later that week, on the 22nd, your ruler, Jupiter, will be tense with Mercury, which could bring up an issue in a public or career-related endeavor. Jupiter expands what it touches though, so the results could even be about having too much of a good thing. What comes up during this period is likely to return in March, so bookmark the events that take place for later reference. It’s likely to be an impactful time.
