Real Talk (The Metaphor Messiah)’s flow is pure fire on the powerful “Moirai”. A tremendous sense of optimism ties the whole of the album together into a singular cohesive story. Every track shows off his impressive storytelling with incredible delivery. Highly passionate at times the careful mixture of astute societal observations along with careful takes on relationships. Over the course of the album Real Talk (The Metaphor Messiah) earns his title, for the delivery at times recalls the nimbleness of Kendrick Lamar. By letting the optimism rise above the rest, his sense of determination, confidence, sheer swagger really, lets the whole album shine with such light. Volume deserves to be absolutely blasted because everything opts for a sheer force of nature approach.
Featuring an incredible series of samples, the production opts for a polished perfection. Bass rumbles with an intense sense of physicality. Going for a stylistically varied approach, elements of trap, R&B, electro, jazz, even hints of classical filter effortlessly into the overall whole. The beats hit hard, so hard, as they rush through everything with a great deal of hope for the future. At times the songs go for something nearly kaleidoscopic as the poetry of the arrangements matches the poetry of Real Talk (The Metaphor Messiah)’s carefully selected word choice.
The fanfare of “Salsa” goes for an infinitely playful groove. Bass feels so damn smooth as it has a luxurious, rich vibe to it. Proving to be a lyrical master, the entire track has a wild unhinged presence to it. On “My Odyssey” beats slow down as Real Talk (The Metaphor Messiah) speaks straight from the heart. Exploring concepts of faith in oneself the song goes for a stately sense of grandeur, nicely building upon his careful storytelling. Easily the highlight of the album comes with the plush style of “Vegas Nights” an ode to his new hometown, a nice nod to the party life on the strip. Hooks aplenty the entire piece lingers in the mind.
Hyper energetic the neon-hued rush of “Seize the Moment” truly embodies the concept of carpe diem in the best way possible. Going for an epic buildup is the colossal “Rise of an Empire” as the whole of the song has a cinematic, sweeping style. Classical gets a bit of tension thrown into the mix on the anxious work of “Thanos”. Rather eclectic sampling gives the closer “Push (My Reality, Pt. 2)” a mystical, reflective presence.
Sculpting a virtual piece of art, Real Talk (The Metaphor Messiah) crafts something so absolutely celebratory on “Moirai”.
