La Danse D’Ivy / Ivy’s Dance

written by Adolf Alzuphar April 12, 2019

Louis Aragon wrote a very famous poem with his partner’s eyes in mind

A long song to her sung by a troubadour who dreamed and practiced both communism and human right

It was this very same Aragon who was not afraid of editing a newspaper with a non-communist

A just male without any fear in building a world without kings of queens but of universal kin

A loving personage who has long since left both his body and mind

What’s left is his text a classic now “Les yeux d’Elsa”

or Elsa’s eyes in English and not mid 20th century French

which speaks nothing of Elsa’s motion dance her freedom her own doing’s chant

her eyes being close to the visual culture of monarchs and courts and not of democratic stance

Her choices her expression her singing her person

What was Elsa’s dance?

Let’s just say that Elsa is dancing Rock and Roll or Hip Hop or House music today

As a white woman with every biological ability of giving birth to a black child

She dances to a black / human aesthetic all night as a mode of her own light

to the dynamic of production in a society of cities of borders and of surplus

to the sociological underpinnings of technology like a record player

Ivy forever and this time

Ivy Beach, poet writer teacher ecologist organizer concerned beautifully-hearted gender neutral woman

Ivy dances Ivy living a society governed by capital and complicity and no longer by feudal power

a said democracy racist full of misogyny and bigotry

no longer governed by familial relations of production

ours is a patriarchal society where fascism is capitalist liberalism’s twin

Where a male poet has much to learn about gender and his mind’s ills

Ivy dances

In her own very way

where her eyes are not necessarily for display

Her intimacy is managed by a thinking existentialist feminist with every right

to define both walk and rest

Moon and test

clarity and rain day and night a woman

unobliged to be defined by a man and his troubadourist lyrics

A secret an answer a body a conviction a dream a lesson in being and doing

An Elsa of her own time

Human as intended and so mysterious mystery both grammar and quiet.
