A new series, The Waters, is looking for written submissions as part of our ongoing Calls For Submissions:
I’m interested in water. The waviness of it. The ocean. Bodies of water. Our own body, as a thing of water, inseparable from water. The necessity of water. How it feels to swim. How it feels to exist in rain. How it feels to stare at water, in the bath, at the beach, a lily pond. I want to hear about your experiences with water in all its forms, finite and abstract. I’m especially interested in poetry, creative nonfiction, and experimental hybrid forms, yet accepting any form you feel is necessary to express yourself. The Waters looks for pieces specifically exploring water and its multiplicity of facets. How does water, as something fluid, permeate throughout our everyday lives and thoughts? What memories do you have associated with what forms of water? Send me your soaking wet thoughts, feelings, and revelations.
“I am writing all this down in blue ink, so as to remember that all words, not just some, are written in water.” – Maggie Nelson, Bluets.
Send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Deadline: December 1st, 2019.
